Experiments on Digital Filtering of Analog Signals: Pulse Amplitude Modulation and Delta Modulation

To boost students' active learning and understanding of abstract scientific concepts, hands-on experiences such as experiments are necessary. Computer simulations also allow students to carry out virtually. Analog signals processed using digital signal processing because the advantages over analog processing. Numerical experiments, results, observations on band pass filtering presented. Two types modulation employed: Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) Delta (DM). Results demonstrated higher suppression frequencies in stopband compared with transition band. Frequencies passband suffer minimum or no attenuation. The phase difference between input output signals, transient response, steady state response observed vividly. PAM is found add less noise system DM. These recommended virtual laboratory exercises for undergraduate postgraduate studies purposes.
